Speaker Bio: Dr. Marie-Louise Mares is a professor in the Department of Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research interests focus on media effects, particularly how media content influences children and adolescents. She has conducted significant work on the impact of media on social and cognitive development, including studies on media literacy, the portrayal of violence, and the role of media in shaping attitudes and behaviors.
Her work often examines how various forms of media, including television and digital media, affect children's understanding of social issues and their development of critical thinking skills. Mares' research contributes to a deeper understanding of media's role in educational and developmental contexts.
